THE OTHER SIDE
Who can find the strength, I wonder
To battle the awesome tide,
Without some vision of that distant shoreline
Though dimly seen
On the other side
Of that rugged reef of despair
We call reality?
Though seemingly impenetrable
Loom the rocks of bitter disillusion
On which our dreams and hopes
Come crashing down
To dash and smash to pieces,
To be swept back to the sea by a tide of confusion
To that ocean of doubt
In which we drown.
Who can find the strength I wonder,
To battle the awesome tide?
Perhaps only madmen dare to struggle
Without knowing
What's on the other side.
