THE ROAD BEYOND
I looked within to find myself And found I'd lost my way, Along some lonely road beyond On which I'd fallen prey, To villanous visions of doubt and delusion
Which haunt that troubled path, To drive their victims further inward To the darkest prison of self.
But a siren song of hope, somehow Broke through the hideous din Of criticism and self-doubt That kept me prisoned within.
Encouraging me to turn about Though I did not know the way Outward, ever outward Toward the light of day.
And there I found my neighbor Yet even more than he, In serving him in loving labor There discovered me.
