DARKNESS
I glimpsed your light
But grasped it not.
Perhaps a brighter,
More splendid light I sought.
I was seeking something
more esteemed,
Not your paltry, anemic flame
So ordinary, or so it seemed.
I turned away to seek another
And plunged back into
That swirling sea of darkness
Only to smother
In the immense black blanket of night.
Though we, who dwell in darkness
Are experts in darkness,
Who are we
To judge another's light.
